A more considered approach to Movement + Wellbeing.
A personal experience that changed my perspective
In February 2022, I returned to Brisbane after working in a remote community in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Within days, I experienced the end of a 12-year relationship and found myself facing a very different future from the one I'd imagined.
Throughout my life, exercise had always been my outlet. Running, strength training, swimming and boxing helped me manage stress and maintain a sense of balance. I was active, driven and accustomed to pushing myself. I believed that with enough effort, I could overcome most challenges.
Then, on 28 May 2022, I tested positive for COVID-19.
Within weeks, my health deteriorated. I began experiencing a range of persistent symptoms that affected my heart rate, sleep, concentration and digestion. The active life I had always known suddenly felt out of reach, and the strategies I'd relied on to manage my wellbeing were no longer enough.
By September 2022, I could no longer sustain full-time work. I took leave and returned to Central Queensland to be closer to family.
It was a confronting period. I felt frustrated, overwhelmed and determined to find answers. Living with ongoing symptoms changed my understanding of health, fitness and what it means to feel well.
Over time, I began to recognise that progress isn't always about doing more or pushing harder. Sometimes, it means adapting, learning to listen to your body and finding a different approach.
My experience with long COVID has not only changed how I view my own health; it has shaped the kind of fitness and lifestyle support I want to offer others.
The philosophy behind Beyond Baseline
I believe fitness and lifestyle support should be individualised, purposeful and built around the person — not a one-size-fits-all formula.
My goal isn't to tell you to push harder. It's to help you find a more considered approach to fitness and lifestyle that works for you.
Whether you're looking to improve your general fitness, build healthier routines or find an approach that better reflects your circumstances, Beyond Baseline is built around the belief that meaningful progress starts with understanding the individual.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes, the first step is simply finding a different way forward.
“Different capacity. Different approach. Still progress.”
